The chemical nickel bath consists of an electrolyte for the electroless deposition of nickel-phosphor layers. The deposited layers are free from lead and cadmium and are therefore RoHS compliant. Precipitation contains 6-9% phosphor. It is a light-coloured, semi-bright to bright layer.
The advantages of chemically deposited nickel layers are the even distribution of layers – even on work-pieces with complicated geometric profiles – and very good corrosion protection behaviour.
Recommended layer thickness pursuant to EN ISO 4527
Low exposure to wear and corrosion | 5 – 10 µm |
Medium exposure to wear and corrosion | 10 – 25 µm |
High exposure to wear and corrosion | 25 – 50 µm |
Very high exposure to wear and corrosion | > 50 µm |
